COMMUNITY
The community includes people around children like parents, facilitators, and helping staff at Anubhav. It is our constant endeavour to educate adults working around the children.
Parents form an important and major part of the child’s development. We strive to partner with them so that the child can continue to receive a conducive environment at home for their complete development.
“There is a great sense of community within the Montessori classroom, where children of differing ages work together in an atmosphere of cooperation rather than competitiveness. There is respect for the environment and for the individuals within it, which comes through the experience of freedom within the community.”- Dr Maria Montessori.
Observation
Observation is key to providing unique educational paths to children. We believe that every child has an inborn urge to learn and is constantly learning at all times. Consequently, adults in the environment regularly observe the children so that they can facilitate/aid them in their undertakings by preparing appropriately.
“When dealing with children there is a greater need for observing than probing.” Dr Maria Montessori
Scientific Approach
The Montessori philosophy was developed by Dr. Maria Montessori and is validated globally by research. This curriculum integrates emotional and social development, executive function, and cognitive skills in children. It embraces the whole child; their natural capacity and love for learning. Children reach their full potential both academically and socially when given the freedom to actively work with concrete, sequential materials within a carefully prepared environment and open-ended curriculum that is offered at Anubhav. Here, adults provide ample guidance to help children in working towards independence and self-discipline.
“The child has a mind to absorb knowledge. He has the power to teach himself,” said Dr. Maria Montessori.
TRAINED
ADULTS
The teachers at Anubhav have undergone rigorous training and are driven by a passion to treat children with love and respect. Learning never stops for adults at Anubhav, and we are constantly upgrading and improvising in the interest of the child.
“The greatest sign of success for a teacher… is to be able to say, ”The children are now working as if I did not exist.” Dr. Maria Montessori.
Environment
This environment is created by keeping the child at the centre. The environment at Anubhav is constantly changing according to the needs of the child. The material in the environment is aesthetically created, maintained, and organized to entice the child to work with them. Daily, children are provided with large blocks of unscheduled time to ensure that children have time to settle into a task that interests them and is not interrupted when they are engaged in a worthwhile activity.
“The environment must be rich in motives which lend interest to activity and invite the child to conduct his own experiences.” Dr. Maria Montessori.
MIXED-AGE GROUP
Emulating the real-world situation where we learn from each other, children spend three years in one environment learning from one another. The older children take pride in mentoring and motivating the younger ones. Children are more comfortable learning from their peers than from adults.
“There are many things which no teacher can convey to a child of three, but a child of five can do it with ease.” Dr. Maria Montessori.
